Is it Hypnosis Dangerous And Against The Bible?

Is Hypnosis dangerous and against the Bible? Is it dangerous for Christians to consult a hypnotist and go into hypnosis? Is it dangerous for anyone to enter hypnotic trance?

Short answer. No, it is not. Hypnosis as practiced today is not dangerous as long as you consult with a professional hypnotist. Hypnosis is not mentioned in the Bible. Neither what hypnosis is, is mentioned in the Bible.

Now let’s explain a little more.

Some use the following verses from the Bible to say that hypnosis is dangerous and that hypnosis should not be used by Christians and therefore by any religious.

Deuteronomy 18: 10-12

10 There shall not be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination, a soothsayer, or an enchanter, or a witch,

11 Or a charmer, or a medium, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

12 For it is an abomination to the Lord all who do these things, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before thee.

Hypnosis is not witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or spell. A hypnotist is not a magician, not a charmer, or a medium, or a wizard, or mentalist. A hypnotist does not consult the dead.

During hypnosis you realize what happens. You’re in control, never at any time subjected to the will and wishes of the hypnotist.

What is hypnosis and how it works?

Hypnosis is a process by which you access your subconscious, putting aside the Critical Factor (CF) and therefore you become more open to suggestions, as long as these suggestions do not go against your moral principles.

The Critical Factor (CF) is not a physical part, but a concept of how his mind works. The CF is what you decide to accept as true or false. Note, I do not say accept the truth … Something can be false but for different reasons you mind accept it as true.

For example, when we learn to smoke, most did because it was being fashionable, socially accepted, more male or sexier. Probably everyone who has smoked will remember how awful it felt the first time you smoke, even being awful we taught our mind that smoking was good for us and cool. The Critical Factor learned that smoking was good for us.

When you consciously want to quit smoking the CF reacts and, figuratively speaking, it says “no, you’re not going to quit smoking, smoking is good for you” and that the reason why quit smoking using only willpower is difficult.

A professional hypnotist, will speak directly to the subconscious and make it see that quitting smoking is good for you, male, sexy and socially accepted and therefore you stop smoking easier.

Certainly you can quit smoking using other techniques, or willpower, but the advantage of hypnosis is that you go directly to the subconscious to make the change. The change becomes easier and powerful.

Is it wrong to access our subconscious?

Not at all, in fact we do it many times during the day. Many things we do during the day “without thinking” are done by our subconscious. When we daydream and concentrate fully in a movie or book and use our imagination, we use the subconscious.

Hypnosis is very similar to when we daydream. It is to be totally focused on something. We are not with an empty mind, nor asleep, nor under the control of the hypnotist.

Some believe that hypnosis is like entering spiritualism, or that has a connection to the occult. It is not permissible for a Christian to use hypnosis because of that. These ideas are based on very old misconceptions about hypnosis.

Of course, as in any profession there are charlatans and those who use hypnosis as a special power, but that happens in all professions. We all know doctors, priests, pastors who use their knowledge for personal gain and they hurt people, but obviously that does not mean that medicine itself is bad or dangerous, or that religion itself is bad or dangerous . The same applies to hypnosis.

I always say … first consult with a Health Professional who is also a professional hypnotist, or a Health Professional that can refer you to a professional hypnotist.

Hypnosis is simply a state that can help us create many positive changes in our lives. As always consult a professional.

Is it permissible for a Christian to use hypnosis?

Saying no, it would be like saying no to resort to a surgeon because is dangerous. There was a time where surgery was considered against Christianity, we now know that it is a positive thing for our health and well accepted by most Christians.

Same with hypnosis, long ago was not accepted because they were based on wrong information, we now know more about how hypnosis works and therefore is accepted by most Christians. Of course there is a minority who still believe in false information.

It is totally untrue who claims that hypnosis is anti biblical or it  has concepts elated spiritism. Who claims that is because hypnosis he or she does not understand what hypnosis really is.

When you are in hypnosis, your mind is never empty or open to demonic entities and much less subjected to the will of the hypnotist. In a hypnosis session you are always in control and can say no to any suggestion that you don’t like or does not agree with your moral principles.

Imagine if I as a Consulting Hypnotist had the power and control that many attribute to hypnosis, I would make all my clients give me all their money, just kidding … but even if I did they won’t give me their money … we, hypnotists, don’t have that kind of power or control over people. If you do research, there are probably more pastors and ministers that are millionaires than hypnotists that are millionaire.

On the other hand, I do self-hypnosis every day, sometimes using other hypnotists audios. If it were true that hypnosis opens the mind to evil spirits or entities, at this point I would be flooded with demons and my friends and family can tell you that I’m still the same in character, than 20 years ago.
